Banaue and Sagada are small mountain towns in the northern-most part of the Island of Luzon in the Philippines. They are separated by about 60 miles of rugged roads that are often washed out by heavy rains or landslides. It is a spectacular journey through green rice terraces inhabited by native peoples belonging to different tribes.

The water in the rice terraces glints in early morning sunshine

The rice terraces look like they are almost painted onto the landscape

The best form of local transport--the jeepney. You can hop on and off wherever you want.
Another photo opportunity along the way
A little too green?
